When you use the Media Center remote control, your Microsoft XP Media Center Edition 2004-based computer may stop responding (hang).
This problem occurs because the Media Center infrared receiver cannot communicate correctly with the remote control. This problem occurs because the infrared receiver firmware is outdated and must be updated to the most current version of the firmware.
To resolve this problem, you must download and install the infrared receiver firmware update. You can download and install updates directly from the following Microsoft Windows Update Web site:
http://update.microsoft.comThe firmware driver update contains the latest firmware settings for your infrared receiver hardware. The update also contains the required functionality of the latest version of Windows XP Media Center Edition. The update supports all versions of the infrared receiver through Microsoft Windows XP Media Center Edition 2004. After you install the update, you may have to restart your computer.
