Problem description

Consider the following scenario:
  • You insert a cross-reference into a Microsoft Office Word 2007 document.
  • If you update the cross-reference, a revision occurs in the value of the Ref field.
In this scenario, the Ref field is updated incorrectly when you print the Word 2007 document. Therefore, the revision in the cross-reference disappears.

Steps to solve this problem

To fix this problem, follow these steps:
  1. This issue is fixed in the Word 2007 hotfix package that is dated June 20, 2008. Therefore, you should apply and install this hotfix package.

    2. Locate and then click the following registry subkey:
    3. On the Edit menu, point to New, and then click DWORD Value.
    4. Type NoAutoUpdateFieldsRMark, and then press ENTER.
    5. Right-click NoAutoUpdateFieldsRMark, and then click Modify.
    6. In the Value data box, type 1, and then click OK.
    7. Exit Registry Editor.
