Symptoms

System processes or programs in a Terminal Services session may randomly quit with an access violation error.

Note To prevent the error from repeating indefinitely, an administrator must end the Terminal Services session.

The system log may contain records that are similar to the following:

Event Type: Information
Event Source: Application Popup
Event Category: None
Event ID: 26
Date: date
Time: time
User: N/A
Computer: ComputerName
Description: Application popup: Explorer.EXE - Application Error : The instruction at "0x77f9da7e" referenced memory at "0x00010580". The memory could not be "read".

Resolution

Hotfix Information
