When you create a mailbox store policy or a public folder store policy named "\/" (without the quotation marks), you may not be able to rename or delete this policy. When you attempt to rename or delete this policy, you may receive the following error message:
An invalid ADSI pathname was passed.

ID no: 80005000
Exchange System Manager
NOTE: In some scenarios, you may receive this error message when you attempt to create a policy that has this name.

This problem occurs when you run Microsoft Exchange 2000 Server editions up to and including Microsoft Exchange 2000 Server Service Pack 3 (SP3) on a Microsoft Windows 2000 Server Service Pack 2 (SP2)-based computer.

Microsoft has confirmed that this is a problem in Microsoft Exchange 2000 Server.

The expected behavior is that you can rename or delete a policy object that is named "\/" or that you can prevent the creation of an object that uses these special characters.
