Frequently asked questions

Q1: Why is the Microsoft Lync 2010 Attendee (user level install) update available only from the Microsoft Download Center?

A1: Microsoft is releasing the update for Lync 2010 Attendee (user level install) only through the Microsoft Download Center because the user level installation of Lync 2010 Attendee is handled through a Lync session. Other distribution methods, such as automatic updating, are not good for this kind of installation scenario.

Q2: How do I know whether I have Lync 2010 Attendee (user level install) installed and not Lync 2010 Attendee (admin level install)?

A2: The following registry subkey is present if you have Microsoft Lync 2010 Attendee (user level install) on a computer that is running a 32-bit operating system:
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Uninstall\{6F72D695-5188-4484-B21E-E16CD89C4008}\
The following registry subkey is present if you have Microsoft Lync 2010 Attendee (admin level install) on a computer that is running a 32-bit operating system:
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Uninstall\{09335E49-1C8F-4973-9929-941BE9C6EF33}
The following registry subkey is present if you have Microsoft Lync 2010 Attendee (user level install) on a computer that is running a 64-bit operating system:
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Wow6432Node\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Uninstall\{6F72D695-5188-4484-B21E-E16CD89C4008}\
The following registry subkey is present if you have Microsoft Lync 2010 Attendee (Admin level install) on a computer that is running a 64-bit operating system:
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Wow6432Node\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Uninstall\{09335E49-1C8F-4973-9929-941BE9C6EF33}
