Small Business Server Setup tries to create several Group Policy settings on the Small Business Server 2011 server. If the Sysvol folder is not shared on the Small Business Server 2011 server, the policy creation tasks fail. This issue occurs if, during the installation process, you receive a pop-up message stating that Active Directory replication is taking longer than expected, and you choose not to wait for replication to finish.
Microsoft now has a utility that may successfully complete the installation process. However, this utility is intended to correct only the problem that is described in the "Symptoms" section. Apply it only to systems that are experiencing this specific problem.
To resolve this problem immediately, contact Microsoft Customer Support Services to have a Microsoft Support Professional use this utility to resolve the issue. For a complete list of Microsoft Customer Support Services telephone numbers and information about support costs, see http://support.microsoft.com/contactus/?ws=support.
Note In special cases, charges that are ordinarily incurred for support calls may be canceled if a Microsoft Support Professional determines that a specific update will resolve your problem. The usual support costs will apply to additional support questions and issues that do not qualify for the specific update in question.
This section describes the information that may be collected from a computer when you run the utility to resolve this problem:
