XFOR: Database Error When Logging On to Instant Messaging Server

When you use the Instant Messaging client to log on to an Instant Messaging server, you may receive the following error message:
Logon to Microsoft Exchange Instant Messaging fails because the password is incorrect or the logon does not exist. If you have forgotten your password, click Help in the main window, and then click Frequently Asked Questions.
In conjunction with this error message, one or more of the following entries may be recorded in the application Event Log on the Instant Messaging server:

Category: Database Component
Description: The JetBlue Database returned error 4294966264 unexpectedly.

Category: Database Component
Description: The database component could not be initialized.

These events indicate that the Msimnode.edb database file has been set to read-only.


To resolve this problem:
  1. Remove the read-only attribute from the Msimnode.edb database file.
  2. Stop and restart the W3SVC service.
