When you protect a worksheet, Microsoft Excel continues to allow you to select calculation options that affect formulas in the worksheet, such as Precision as displayed, Accept labels in formulas, and 1904 date system. When you change these options, Microsoft Excel updates the formulas, even though the worksheet is protected.


This behavior is by design in the products listed at the beginning of this article.
