Microsoft Office for Mac

Customers have told us they are looking for a clear and easy way to understand support lifecycle defined in years, not product versions. In addition to providing year-based support timeframes for future releases, Microsoft is also providing year-based support timeframes for Microsoft Office v. X for Mac, Office 2001 for Mac, Office 98 Macintosh Edition, Internet Explorer 5.x for Mac, and Outlook Express 5.x for Mac. Additionally, most products will receive at least ten years of online self-help support from the date of general availability.

Office 2001 for Mac – Microsoft will continue to provide current assisted support options for Office 2001 for Mac through December 31, 2005. Office 2001 downloads for security issues will continue to be obtainable through normal assisted support channels at no charge through the same date. Additionally, most products will receive at least ten years of online self-help support from the date of general availability. Mainstream hotfix support for Office 2001 will also end on December 31, 2005, and there will be no period of extended hotfix support.

Office v. X for Mac – Microsoft will continue to provide current assisted support options for Office v. X for Mac through January 9, 2007. Office v. X downloads for security issues will continue to be obtainable through normal assisted support channels at no charge through the same date. Additionally, most products will receive at least ten years of online self-help support from the date of general availability. Mainstream hotfix support for Office v. X will also end on January 9, 2007, and there will be no period of extended hotfix support.

Internet Explorer and Outlook Express for Mac

Internet Explorer 5.1 and 5.2 for Mac – Microsoft will continue to provide current assisted support options for Internet Explorer versions 5.1 and 5.2 through December 31, 2005. Security issues in Internet Explorer 5.1 and 5.2 will continue to be addressed as needed, and any available security updates will be obtainable through normal download channels at no charge through the same date. Hotfix support is no longer available for Internet Explorer for the Mac versions 5.1 and 5.2. Additionally, most products will receive at least ten years of online self-help support from the date of general availability.

Outlook Express 5.x for OS 9 –Mainstream hotfix support for Outlook Express 5 ended on June 30, 2003, and there is no period of extended hotfix support.

Microsoft Virtual PC for Mac

Microsoft Virtual PC for Mac 5.0, 5.01, 5.02, 5.03, 5.04 - Microsoft will provide the currently assisted support options for Virtual PC for Mac 5.0, 5.01, 5.02, 5.03, 5.04 through September 30, 2004. Hotfix support will not be provided.

Microsoft Virtual PC for Mac 6.0, 6.01, 6.02 - Microsoft will provide the currently assisted support options for Virtual PC for Mac 6.0, 6.01, 6.02 through September 30, 2004. Hotfix support will not be provided. Hotfix and security-related fix support for these products may be obtained by upgrading to Virtual PC for Mac 6.1.

Microsoft Virtual PC for Mac Version 6.1 - Microsoft will provide the currently assisted support options for Virtual PC for Mac 6.1 through January 13, 2009. Virtual PC for Mac 6.1 security downloads will be available through the typical assisted support channels at no charge through January 13, 2009. Additionally, many products will receive eight years of online self-help support from the date of general availability. Mainstream support for Virtual PC for Mac 6.1 will end on January 13, 2009.

Microsoft Virtual PC for Mac Version 7 - Microsoft will provide the currently assisted support options for Virtual PC for Mac 7 through April 13, 2010. Virtual PC for Mac 7 security downloads will be available through the typical assisted support channels at no charge through April 13, 2010. Additionally, many products will receive eight years of online self-help support from the date of general availability. Mainstream support for Virtual PC for Mac 7 will end on April 13, 2010.
