Microsoft Support Lifecycle Policy provides Microsoft Dynamics products Extended Support

Microsoft® is pleased to announce the addition of Extended Support for Microsoft Dynamics™ products under the Microsoft Support Lifecycle (MSL) policy. In the past, Microsoft Dynamics products received five years of Mainstream Support, before support ended. With the addition of Extended Support, selected Microsoft Dynamics products will receive a minimum of 10 years of support from Microsoft.

The Microsoft Support Lifecycle policy provides customers predictable support timelines to help plan their information technology environment. The policy for business and developer products, which includes selected Microsoft Dynamics products, provides a minimum of 10 years of support (5 years of Mainstream Support and 5 years of Extended Support). The Microsoft Dynamics product lines that will receive Extended Support are: Microsoft Dynamics AX, Microsoft Dynamics CRM, Microsoft Dynamics Great Plains, Microsoft Dynamics NAV, Microsoft Dynamics SL, and Microsoft Dynamics Retail Management. This policy went into effect on November 5, 2007.

Mainstream Support phase

The first phase of support is the Mainstream Support phase, where a minimum of five years of support is provided for customers at the supported service pack level. The Mainstream Support phase includes the following levels of support:

  • Incident support (no-charge incident support, paid incident support, support charged on an hourly basis)
  • Security update support
  • The ability to request non-security hotfixes
Extended Support phase

The Extended Support phase follows Mainstream Support and provides a minimum of an additional five years of support. At the supported service pack level, Microsoft Dynamics products in Extended Support will receive the following:

  • Paid support
  • Security update support at no additional cost
  • Non-security, tax, and regulatory hotfix support requires that Extended Hotfix Support be purchased (per-fix fees also apply)

The Extended Support phase and policy applies to all future releases of the Microsoft Dynamics products listed below beginning with these current releases:

  • Microsoft Dynamics AX 4.0
  • Microsoft Dynamics GP 10.0
  • Microsoft Dynamics NAV 5.0
  • Microsoft Dynamics SL 7.0
  • Microsoft Dynamics CRM 3.0
  • Microsoft Dynamics RMS 2.0

The Microsoft Support Lifecycle policy standardizes Microsoft product support policies for business and developer products as well as for consumer, hardware, and multimedia products.
