exits when it receives a User Datagram Protocol (UDP) packet on the termination
port, and the program does not receive any notifications thereafter.
CAUSE This problem occurs because the new mail thread listens for
a termination event on another UDP port. If any packet is received on this UDP
port, the new mail notification thread exits, and no more new mail
notifications are received. The client must be restarted for the new mail
notification to work. RESOLUTION A supported fix
is now available from Microsoft, but it is only intended to correct the problem
that is described in this article. Apply it only to systems that are
experiencing this specific problem. This fix may receive additional testing.
Therefore, if you are not severely affected by this problem, Microsoft
recommends that you wait for the next Microsoft Exchange Server 5.5 service
pack that contains this fix. To resolve this problem immediately, download the fix by clicking the download link later in this article or contact Microsoft Product Support Services to obtain the fix.
