On your Windows XP desktop, when you click the shortcut to your 3 1/2 inch disk drive or to your CD-ROM drive, the shortcut does not work anymore.
This problem may occur if you have installed Windows XP update 821557: MS03-027: An Unchecked Buffer in the Windows Shell Could Permit Your System to Be Compromised or Windows XP update 330836: Shortcuts to Mapped Drives on Windows 95 or Windows 98 May Not Work in Windows XP.

Microsoft has confirmed that this is a problem in the Microsoft products that are listed at the beginning of this article. This problem was first corrected in Microsoft Windows XP Service Pack 2.
