SYMPTOMS

When you install a Microsoft SQL Server 2005 failover cluster, you receive the following error message:
There is not enough disk space on the destination disk.
However, you do not have a shortage of disk space. The actual problem is that the SQL Server Setup program cannot access the cluster disk resource. The SQL Server 2005 Setup program generates an incorrect error message.

STATUS

Microsoft has confirmed that this is a problem in the Microsoft products that are listed in the "Applies to" section.

MORE INFORMATION

The cluster disk resource becomes inaccessible for one of the following reasons:
  • The storage drive encounters a problem.
  • The network connection is broken between the computer on which you run the SQL Server Setup program and the computer that hosts the storage drive.
