SYMPTOMS

When you try to move a mailbox across forests in a Microsoft Exchange Server 2007 organization, the move mailbox operation is unsuccessful. Additionally, the following error message is logged in the Exchange Management Shell:
Move-Mailbox : Error was found for ‘Last Name, First Name’ (username@domain.com) because: Error occurred in the step: Approving object. An invalid ADSI pathname was passed., error code: -2147463168

CAUSE

This problem occurs if the display name of a mailbox contains a comma. When this occurs, the move mailbox operation cannot correctly read the source account name. Additionally, the move mailbox operation cannot create a new account by using a new account name in the target forest.
