SYMPTOMS

You have the Korean language pack installed on a 64-bit Itanium-based (IA-64) computer that runs Windows Server 2008 Service Pack 2 (SP2). When you try to input Korean characters in the search box of the computer, such as the Start Search box on the Start menu, Windows Explorer may crash. Additionally, you may receive the following error message:

Windows Explorer has encountered a problem and needs to close. We are sorry for any inconvenience.

RESOLUTION

Hotfix information

A supported hotfix is available from Microsoft. However, this hotfix is intended to correct only the problem that is described in this article. Apply this hotfix only to systems that are experiencing the problem described in this article. This hotfix might receive additional testing. Therefore, if you are not severely affected by this problem, we recommend that you wait for the next software update that contains this hotfix.
