SYMPTOMS

Consider the following scenario:
  • On a Windows Server 2003-based computer, you use the Win32_NTLogEvent WMI class to query event log information that is contained in an event log, such as the Security log.
  • You set a time range in the WMI query.
  • The size of one or several events in the query is large. For example, an event in the query is larger than 1 KB.
In this scenario, the query result may miss some events.

The following WMI query is an example that may encounter this problem:
Select * from Win32_NTLogEvent where Logfile = 'Application' and TimeGenerated >= '20090219000000.000000+480' and TimeGenerated < '20090220000000.000000+480
