SYMPTOMS

The text and buttons that are in some Microsoft Outlook dialog boxes are truncated. For example, in the E-Mail Accounts dialog box, the buttons that are at the bottom and to the right of the dialog box are not completely visible. Dialog boxes in other Microsoft Office XP programs are not affected.

CAUSE

This behavior occurs if your Microsoft Windows font size is set to a custom size instead of being set to the default Small Fonts or Large Fonts font size options in the WindowsDisplay properties dialog box.

Follow these steps to check the font size in the WindowsDisplay properties dialog box.

Note Because there are several versions of Microsoft Windows, the following steps may be different on your computer. If they are, see your product documentation to complete these steps.
  1. Click Start, click Control Panel, and then double-click Display.
  2. On the Appearance tab, verify the font size that appears in the Font size list.

WORKAROUND

To work around this behavior, use one of the following methods to adjust the font size that Windows is using:
  • Use the Large Fonts or the Small Fonts font size options. To adjust the font size that is used by Windows, follow these steps.
    1. Click Start, click Control Panel, and then double-click Display.
    2. Click the Appearance tab.
    3. Under Font Size, click either Large Fonts or Small Fonts.
  • Keep the Other font size and use the keyboard arrow keys to move through the affected dialog boxes.
